Volunteers Needed

January 10, 2023 By Amelia

This email and its corresponding website anthroposophybayarea.org has been providing information about anthroposophical institutions and activities in California for several decades, mostly due to the work of one person who now needs to move on to other tasks. We need some volunteers to keep this service going. It doesn’t take a lot of time or expertise, and you can help out from the comfort of your own home.

Anthroposophybayarea.org is a WordPress website, and WordPress makes it fairly easy to log into the website dashboard to upload new posts. Then, a magical email plugin sends an email out once a week (Wednesday nights) when there are new posts. So simple! The WordPress site manages all of the email list add-ins and opt-outs and email formatting.

We need some volunteers who are willing to receive email with requests to post information to the email list/website, and then to transfer event information and pictures into the website as a new “post.” Organizations who regularly put on events are able to sign up as users to post their own events.

We could also use a volunteer who is willing to check out and update all the information on the website regarding California anthroposophical institutions, schools, groups, etc. This would mean checking links to see if they work and if addresses are current, and email some groups to follow up to make sure they are still meeting and that the information is current.

Ideally, someone would be willing to step forward who could slowly take over full administration of the site. This would mean getting to know WordPress a bit better, logging in periodically to activate the recommended updates, and setting up new users (such as organizations who could add their own posts) with a user account and permissions. There are a lot of ways to learn WordPress available online, and you can also receive help from the old webmaster.

One further volunteer possibility is for someone to check in periodically with the Anthroposophical Society of America regarding new members in California who may want to sign up for the email list. Cross-posting significant events onto the ASA calendar could also be quite helpful.

Please, if you would like to help out in any way, simply email [email protected] So many people will be grateful, including those who appreciate knowing what’s going on anthroposophically in California!

The website costs several hundred dollars to host annually, which is currently being donated mostly by just one person. We could really use some donations annually to help with the costs. Please consider helping out by sending a check payable to Susan Overhauser to the address at the bottom of the email you received. Thank you so much for your support!

Rudolf Steiner

Crafted from actual events and discourse, Fire in the Temple, dramatizes Rudolf Steiner’s final months and brings to the stage the people around him, including two extraordinary women, Marie Steiner von Sivers and Dr. Ita Wegman, both of whom stood by him until the very day of his death – and beyond. Talk on Vidar, the Angel of Buddha & the Etheric Christ on Sunday January 15 SFWHS

January 10, 2023 By Amelia

Getting to Know Vidar

A talk by Susan Overhauser

Sunday, January 15, 3:15pm

San Francisco Waldorf High School

470 West Portal Ave., San Francisco

As Michael transitioned from Archangel to Archai, the being known as Vidar stepped into Michael’s  position as ruling Archangel.  Who is this being, and how does he relate to Michael and Christ?

This talk will provide some background information about the being known as Vidar and his importance for our current time.  Vidar is known from Norse mythology as an Aesir (god) who survives Ragnarok and conquers the Fenris Wolf who is trying to devour the sun.  Vidar can help us achieve the forces and discernment needed to conquer Ahrimanic and Luciferic influences.

Vidar has been active for a very long time, in close connection with Christ.  Vidar is also connected to Buddhism, and to the purified forces of the “sister soul of Adam,” forces that did not go through the fall of man.  Vidar’s task is very relevant to our times, and to the development of a true etheric clairvoyance.  A verse for Vidar will be shared at the conclusion of the talk.

Invitation to Online Study of Karen River’s Book

January 10, 2023 By Amelia

‘Love is ultimately the most meaningful of human experiences. In all its various forms, love leads us to the fulfillment of human existence. Love has the power to unite us with our true self, to unite us with the spiritual essence in others, and it has the power to carry us on wings of selflessness to unite with the Divine.’

                                                                                                                                                                                               Karen L. Rivers

Join us for a study of Karen River’s book, and begin the work of transformation by learning about and identifying the Double in your own biography.  Helping each other through conversations we will work to identify impulses and patterns, and strive to lift them into more ennobled ways of expression.

This online study group is forming at the moment, and we will most likely be meeting via zoom on a bi-weekly rhythm on Mondays at 7 pm.

Please contact [email protected], or [email protected], for more information and to sign up.

The book can be ordered here:

Three Springs Community Farm Community Supported Agriculture

May 23, 2022 By Amelia

Greetings,

We are very happy to invite you to become a Farm Member with Three Springs Community Farm CSA for the 2022 season. We have a number of spots left to reach our goal of 80 Families. We are greatly in need of partnership with Anthroposophical friends in the Bay Area to create a thriving Farm Organism that can continue into the future!

If you are interested in CSA Membership, please click on this link to view more information and signup:

https://forms.gle/rXCzVB4R9GXQd8QAA

Our offerings are distributed on Wednesdays, through free choice members-only farmstand at Berkeley Rose Waldorf School and Golden Bridges School in the Excelsior (SF). We also deliver pre-packed share boxes to sites in Terra Linda, Pacific Heights and El Sobrante.

Products include:

  • Flower Bouquets (every other week)
  • Other vegetables, for example, snap peas, onions & garlic, tomatoes, corn, squash, cucumbers, potatoes, brussels sprouts, tea, meat, etc. come in their season.

Annual Membership Fees are sliding-scale, based on Steiner’s principles of Associative Economics. Prospective members receive the Farm budget and make a pledge that works for their family budget, taking the needs of the farm into consideration. If the budget is not met by all the pledges, we conduct additional pledge rounds until it is met. Payments may be made monthly, quarterly, or as one annual payment.

About Our Farm:

We are a (relatively) new Biodynamic farm and educational program in Bodega, Sonoma County. Since 2017 we have been welcoming urban Waldorf students to our farm for school group visits, as well as developing the infrastructure for our Membership CSA Program, and starting our Farm Apprenticeship Program to train the next generation of sustainable farmers. 2020 was our first full year of vegetable production. Your farmers are Willow (yours truly) & Lew Summer.

Our growing methods are Biodynamic and “beyond Organic”: we work with the material aspects of farming using organic practices, and also include the spiritual aspects of Biodynamic farming by applying the field sprays (horn manure, horn silica and equisetum); applying the compost preparations (nettles, yarrow, chamomile, dandelion, oak bark and valerian); and working with the Elemental Beings of earth, air, water & warmth; the Being of the Farm; the Being of the Earth; and the Spiritual Hierarchies as we move through the land.

Our regenerative practices help to draw carbon down into the soil from the air, where it is causing damage and changing our climate. Our farm is contributing to reducing climate change, and our Members are integral to this important climate action, creating a more livable planet for our children and future generations.

Please feel free to call us. And by all means arrange to pay a visit to the farm to assess whether Membership would be right for you at this time.

Warmly,

Farmer Willow
