San Francisco Bay Branch Council Mandate
Purpose of the Branch Council:
The purpose of the Branch Council is to cultivate and foster the activities of Spiritual Science and the Anthroposophical Society in the San Francisco Bay Area
Membership:
The Branch Council is composed of members in good standing of the Anthroposophical Society. Members will make a minimum commitment of service for a term of 3 yrs in order to sustain group effectiveness. The Branch Council will be comprised of at least 5 and not more than 7 members. New members should be drawn from those who’ve demonstrated commitment, responsibility and dedication to Anthroposophical group work through first participating significantly in Branch (SF or other) working group activities or similar activities in the community.
Branch Council Responsibilities:
- Hold regular meetings of Branch Council
- Maintain oversight of all the working groups, their respective membership, and their respective mandates
- Produce and publish Branch Council communications regarding activities, past, present, and future, and especially reports from regular meetings
- Ensuring maintenance of core branch activities and working groups
- Ensuring the healthy social life/working of the Branch
- Planning and Program Creation
- Schedule and host monthly Branch Meetings
- Host social gatherings of regional members and affiliates in the anthroposophically related initiatives
- Build awareness of and connections with like-minded individuals and groups
- Coordinating with National Society (w/designated liaison)
- Coordinating with regional activities of the School for Spiritual Science, its First Class, General and Practical Sections
- Coordinating calendaring and events across the Northern California region
- Assure that all compliance filings are completed in a timely manner and appropriate fees paid
- Ensure the financial stability of the Branch
- Review and update by-laws as needed
- Reflect on and evaluate the Branch Council work and Mandate on an annual basis and share with SFBB members updates and request feedback.
Authority:
- The Branch Council has authority to manage the day-to-day affairs of the Branch as it sees fit.
- Delegating or withdrawing responsibility, authority and accountability to any individual or working group at its discretion
- Amending the By-laws
- Assuring that the working groups and any of the gatherings are socially harmonious, and disciplining any disruptive behavior
- Communicating with the Western Regional Council of the ASA, the General Council, and the General Secretary regarding any SFBB matters
- Dissolution of the Branch and its assets
- Hiring any future contractors or staff to carry out the work on behalf of the Branch
- Any other duties as defined in the By-laws
Accountability:
- The membership, to the Regional Council, and the General Council for delivering its mission of furthering anthroposophy in the SFBB area.
- To the State of California for keeping its records and compliances current
- To the spiritual world for the Branch Council and Branch’s ability to harmonize karma
