Brought to Light again: The History of Manichaeism as a World Religion.
September 26
3 pm ET – 2 pm CT – 1 pm MT – Noon PT – 8 pm UK – 9 pm CET
Christine Gruwez
Description: Manichaeism, as a great and complex religious system, including different organizational forms of community, was founded by Mani, (216 -276 AD). Mani started to teach his doctrine in Sasanian Mesopotamia. From there it spread both West and East into various languages and cultures. We’ll explore fascinating discoveries and research from the beginning of the 20th century on with the very first evidence of art in eastern Manichaeism and reveal how many questions still remain unanswered.
Bio: Christine Gruwez was born in Belgium in 1942. She studied philosophy, classical philology and Iranian studies as well as Waldorf education. She is a lecturer in Waldorf education in Antwerp. Her core topics are Iran, Islam, and Manichaeism. She works worldwide in seminars and as a publicist. She has authored 14 books and will be drawing mostly from her book Mani & Rudolf Steiner: Manichaeism, Anthroposophy, and their Meeting in the Future.
