Eurythmy Performances in San Francisco

January 15, 2025 By Monika Leitz

Saturday February 15 and Sunday 16, 2025

“A Shovel of Stars Overhead: Where to? What next?” embodies the longing, questioning, and bewilderment that belong to this moment in America, while asking where, from whom, and how something greater can come to be. The program is inspired by the words and compositions of a diversity of artists who poignantly reflect the tensions of their own time. These include the beloved and influential Langston Hughes, statesman Archibald MacLeish, the modern lyric Denise Levertov, and great American bard Walt Whitman.

The Eurythmy Association in North America EANA is facilitating this San Francisco performance of the Eurythmy Spring Valley Ensemble with their current touring program.

*Please note that due to the different venue, tickets available at the door are extremely limited and we recommend ordering ahead through http://ticketsource.us/eana so you will have a seat.

Michael Festival this Sunday in San Francisco

September 25, 2024 By Monika Leitz

You are warmly invited to join us for a Michael Festival on Sunday, September 29, 3-5 pm, @2938 Washington St., Dakin Hall, Grade School campus of SFWS. The Bay Area Eurythmy Ensemble in collaboration with Bruce Donehower are preparing to take you on a journey through the themes of Rudolf Steiner’s last address culminating in the Michael Imagination. You may wish to read the text prior to the gathering but you are certainly welcome without having done so.

Parking in the neighborhood is limited and public transportation or ride share is encouraged. If you come in your own vehicle please leave ample time to find parking in the neighborhood.

A sliding scale donation $10-20/person at the door is welcome. Thank you for supporting the artists.

We are using the following translation:

Michael Imagination

Springing from powers of the sun,

Luminous, world-blessing

Spirit-powers, to be Michael’s garment of rays

You are foreordained by the thinking of gods.

He, the Christ-proclaimer, reveals in you––

Mankind sustaining––holy cosmic will;

You, the bright world-ether beings,

Bear the Christ-Word to human beings.

So Christ’s herald appears

To waiting, thirsting souls.

To them, your word of light streams forth

In the world-age of spirit-man.

You, students of spirit-knowledge,

Take Michael’s wise directing,

Take the word of love of the will of worlds

Into your souls’ high aims––actively.

Rudolf Steiner

Michael Celebration in San Francisco

September 11, 2024 By Monika Leitz

You are warmly invited to join us in a festival celebration to honor the spirit of Micha-el. The Bay Area Eurythmy Ensemble has been inspired to work with the Michael Imagination by Rudolf Steiner in preparation for this festival and aims to trace he arc or Rudolf Steiner’s last address (given September 28, 1924) as a centenary tribute. Through eurythmy, speech and visual art we offer an artistic experience of the individualities R.Steiner mentions in this final talk.

Bruce Donehower will follow with a talk addressing the significance of Novalis and connect this to the festival of Michael.

We hope to welcome you at 2938 Washington Street, Dakin Hall* at 3 pm for this special event. Doors open at 2.30 pm.

Parking in the neighborhood is very limited and SFWS requests that you consider taking public transport or ride share as much as possible. If you come in your own vehicle please plan for ample time to find legal parking.

This Sunday Nov. 5, Where the two worlds touch

November 1, 2023 By Monika Leitz

Above all, we learn that we do not live– or love or experience – for ourselves alone. All our experience feeds the universe. We are the books the dead read. Our thoughts and feelings are the works of art that brighten and instruct their lives. When we meditate (or pray) and do our spiritual practice, when we organize our lives to serve and make manifest the good, the true and the beautiful, then we are doing so not only for ourselves but for all beings of all worlds.

Christopher Bamford

Room opens at 3 pm for quiet seating, event starts at ~3.15 pm. Please note the switch from day light savings time:)
